Sissa (Mary Elizabeth) Bethea Obituary

Sissa (Mary Elizabeth) Bethea or affectionately known by her grandchildren as M.E., a beloved resident of Clayton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on 12/21/24. 

Sissa is survived by her loving son, Mark, and her granddaughter, Cheyenne. She was predeceased by her dear daughter, Carol. Sissa also leaves behind her devoted son-in-law, David, and their sons, Kenny and Kevin. And several blessed great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy to carry on her legacy. 

Sissa’s life was filled with a love for dancing and travel. She graced the stages of Las Vegas and New York City, sharing her passion for ballet and ballroom dancing. Her talent and dedication led her to travel the world, where she danced in countless places and embraced the beauty of different cultures.

In addition, Sissa had a lifelong admiration for horses, cowboys, and the culture of the Cherokee Native Americans, which brought her inspiration and happiness throughout her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Sissa Bethea’s name to the Rabun County Library, honoring her love of learning and community.

A celebration of her life will be held on a near future date, where family and friends will gather to remember and honor the legacy of a remarkable woman. Sissa’s memory will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
