Steven Stanley Burrell, of Franklin, North Carolina, passed away on December 16, 2023.
He was born on July 22, 1951 to the late Ned C. Burrell and late Stella Martin Watson Burrell. He was born in Clayton, Georgia and graduated from RGNS in the Class of 1970.
After high school, Steve joined the Navy, serving for 6 years as a nuclear technician on the USS Nimitz. After leaving the Navy, he worked many years for NUS out of Barnwell, South Carolina, traveling to each nuclear power plant across the nation, checking on compliance of regulations regarding storage and disposal of radiation waste.
Due to declining health, he returned to the mountains and people he loved.
In addition to his parents, Steve is preceded in death by his brother, Thad Watson Sr., and sisters, Andrea Potts (Dennis), and Nedda Cline Burrell.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Lane Burrell Forsberg (Eric) of Clearwater, Florida and adopted son, Ethan Sadler of Clearwater, Florida; brother, Varncy Watson of Dillard, Georgia; sister, Vivian Burrell Collins, of Otto, North Carolina; and brother-in-law, Dennis Potts of Dillard, Georgia.
A memorial service will be held for Steve at a later date.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church in his memory.
