Susan Carol Bryan Obituary
Susan Carol Bryan, age 72, entered her heavenly home on September 16, 2025.
Born in Atlanta, GA on January 4, 1953, Susan was the beloved daughter of the late Morris A. Bryan, Sr. and Virginia Selesky Bryan Sosby. She is now reunited in heaven with her parents, her brother Morris A. Bryan, Jr., her niece Terri Potter, her grandnephew Quinn Conley, her brother-in-law Bob Ryals, and her stepfather David Sosby.
Susan’s life was filled with curiosity, kindness, and joy. She delighted in learning about God’s creation—whether it was the beauty of the planets, the flowers in bloom, or even a summer lightning storm. Her love of nature was matched only by her love for animals, who seemed to sense her gentle spirit. She often said no creature would ever bring her harm.
To her family, Susan was much more than a sister, aunt, or great-aunt—she was a source of warmth, encouragement, and laughter. She shared her discoveries with her nieces and nephews, and each of them knew they held a special place in her heart.
A true Braves fan, Susan never just watched the games—she followed the players, knew their stats, and cheered them on faithfully. If the Braves were playing, you could count on her slipping away to catch the game. She also loved her community, finding joy in the Dahlonega Senior Center where she excelled in Wii bowling, often rolling a perfect 300.
Susan’s hands were rarely still. She poured her love into cross-stitched gifts—tissue box covers, Christmas ornaments, and thoughtful handmade crafts that she shared with friends and family. She also shared her crafting talents at Vacation Bible School.
Her faith was the heartbeat of her life. Susan loved the Lord deeply and lived that love through service. While living in Maysville, GA, she quietly served her town by helping with water bill mailings. At Wiley Presbyterian Church, she greeted warmly, ushered faithfully, and helped prepare the weekly worship guide—receiving special Volunteer Service Recognition for her many years of dedication. More recently, she was an active and joyful member of Clayton Baptist Church, where she found fellowship in the Oasis/Harvest Sunday School Class and read her Bible daily, eager to share its truths with others.
Above all, Susan will be remembered for her faith, her love for her family, and her generous spirit.
She leaves behind her loving family: her older sister Dale Ryals; her older brother Randy and his wife Ginny; her younger brother Hal and his wife Mary; her sister-in-law Nancy Bryan Oates; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews who will forever treasure her memory.
A Homegoing celebration of Susan’s life and faith will be held on Saturday, October 18, at 2:00 PM at Clayton Baptist Church Sanctuary, with Pastor Joey Thompson officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
