Teresa Godfrey Ramey passed away June 13, 2025. She was born October 8, 1948, the daughter of the late James (Buck) Arthur Godfrey and Hattie Sneed Godfrey. She was the maternal granddaughter of Henry David and Stella Sneed, and paternal granddaughter of Frank and Ludia Godfrey.

She is survived by her husband Henry J. ‘HJ’ Ramey Jr., daughter Kerri Lee Williams (Kent), sons Henry J. Ramey III (Amanda), James David Ramey (Alice); grandchildren Anna Ramey, Isabelle Ramey, Lainey Ann Ramey, Jable Ramey, Kip Ramey, Ashlie Ansley, and Kent Williams Jr.; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Terry was a graduate from Swain County High School in Bryson City North Carolina. After high school she graduated from Western Carolina University in 1971. She worked as a social worker until 1988. In 1988 Terry had the opportunity to become Director of “Advocates for Children’s Emergency Shelter” a non-profit organization for the support of children. Terry’s journey started in a shelter that could only house 2 to 3 children at a time. In 1999 the shelter had moved 4 times and could now house 13 children in their new shelter. The shelter was renamed Flowering Branch Children Shelter. Terry had made a career out of helping children that are needing more than what they get from their home situation. She was always guided by what was best for the children. When she retired in 2006 the occupancy rate had increased to 3650 bed nights. She was chosen as Bartow Counties woman of the year in 1988 by Cartersville Business and Professional.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday June 18th form 1:00pm until 2:00pm with a service to follow at 2:00pm in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel.
