Terry Allen Jones, 87, of Tiger, GA. Passed away peacefully at Northeast Georgia Medical Center on Friday, April 11, 2025. 

Terry was born April 4, 1938 to the late Joe Brown Jones and Lois Watts Jones both of Tiger. He lived his entire life in Tiger and worked for many years at Rabun Mills and Georgia Carolina Petroleum.  Later, several years after retiring, he drove a mail delivery truck and also worked at Anna Ruby Falls.

Terry loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He supported his family in all their adventures and was proud of all the accomplishments they made. One of his favorite pastimes was when the family got together and picked and grinned. He loved hearing his granddaughters sing and just enjoyed the time together. Terry enjoyed a tasty home cooked meal and he was a master on the grill and grilled the best steaks around. He enjoyed wood working and built cedar hope chests for several of his grandchildren. He loved fishing whether it was on a creek bank or in the deep sea. He always spoke of fond fishing trips on Santee Cooper with his family. 

One of his greatest joys was teasing and pickin on anyone that he could. If he was giving you a hard time it was because he thought a lot of you.   He could always make someone smile with a story of his childhood and was quite the historian. 

He was a member of Battle Branch Baptist Church and loved the Lord. He would share his testimony every chance he had and would always say “I want to thank the lord for saving my soul and for my family.”

Terry was preceded in death by two step sons, Michael Anthony Owens and Keith Lamar Owens as well as two brothers Michael Stanley Jones and Douglas Howard Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathryn Wilson Jones of the home. Son David Jones and wife Dulene Jones, grandchildren Lance Owens (Stacy Owens), Heath Owens, Haley Owens Hopper (Austin), Brooke Jones Ledford (Jacob), Brent Jones (Brendalyn) and 5 beautiful great grandchildren Jason, Ella, Ellie, Jaelyn and Casey. Terry is survived by a sister Judy Jones Hunnicutt (Larry) and his brother Larry Jones. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and a few close high school friends.

The following men will serve as Pallbearers: David Jones, Brent Jones, Jacob Ledford, Austin Hopper, Wesley Hunnicutt, Joe Topia, Lance Owens and Heath Owens. The following men will serve as Honorary Pallbearers: Delmo Patterson, Parker Hollifield, James Gragg, Leslie Blair, Ricky Hunnicutt and Pat Thompson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday April 15, 2025, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM at Battle Branch Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 2:00 with Rev. Madison McCrackin and Rev. Cale Stancil officiating. Burial will follow in Rabun Memory Park.
