SFC (Ret) Thomas Houghton O’Neil (Sarge), age 77, of Clayton, Georgia passed away on December 17, 2023 after a long fight with cancer. 

Thomas was born on June 1, 1946 in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, to the late James Edward O’Neil and late Carolyn Houghton O’Neil.

After school, Thomas worked for the US Army and later as a JROTC High School Instructor. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Business and lived in many different places such as Hanau, Germany; Mainz, Germany; Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Naples, Florida; and Clayton, Georgia.

Thomas enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, and being involved in the local VFW Post 4570.

In addition to his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by his son, James J. O’Neil, and first wife, Karen O’Neil.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Cynthia Thompson O’Neil; children, Thomas H. O’Neil Jr. (Candace Metcalfe), Kelley M. Hamilton, Josh Dubѐ (Racheal Dubѐ), Aaron Dubѐ (Misty Waltz); brother, Robert (Bob) O’Neil; grandchildren, Jennifer Pierce, Stacey Chaffee (Macayla Chaffee), Shannon O’Neil, Andrew O’Neil, Elijah O’Neil, Meghan O’Neil, Karen Hamilton, Ace Dubѐ, Ferralye Dubѐ, Atlas Metcalfe-O’Neil, Atticus Metcalfe-O’Neil, Elora Dubѐ; and great-grandchildren, Jonathan O’Neil, Adrianna O’Neil, Mckayla Pierce, Cailee McKinney, Briar McKinney, and Iris Chaffee.

A visitation will be held 7:00pm-9:00pm Friday, December 22, 2023 at Beck Funeral Home. A service to honor the life of Thomas O’Neil will be on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 1:00pm in the Beck Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Rabun Memory Park in Tiger, Georgia.
