Obituary

Wade Lester Murphy, born on September 28, 1943, in Hot House, North Carolina, passed away on August 14, 2023. As we pay tribute to his life, let us honor the legacy of a remarkable man whose journey left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have known him.

Wade served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army. Upon his return, he pursued higher education and earned a Business Degree from Truett McConnell College. His dedication and hard work led him to a successful career as the plant manager at Empire Manufacturing. After retiring, Wade found fulfillment working at Mark's Marine, where his expertise was greatly valued.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Wade had a passion for golf. His exceptional skills on the course allowed him to qualify for the Georgia Open Pro Am twice, a testament to his unwavering dedication. When not swinging a club, he found solace in the serenity of the lake, indulging in his love for fishing.

Wade's life was greatly influenced by his family, and he cherished his role as a husband, father, and brother. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Jean Nichols Murphy, who stood by his side through better, worse, sickness and health. This bond served as an inspiration to all who witnessed their love. He is also survived by his daughter Deana Dunn, her husband Tim, and their daughter Camille Dunn, as well as his son Jason Murphy. Additionally, he leaves behind his brother Benton Murphy, his partner Carol, and two sisters, Betty Tench and Barbara Norris. Wade will be dearly missed by his nieces, nephews, and extended family. The family would like to give a special thank you to Brenda Watkins for her compassionate care for Wade and Jean over the past several months.

Wade was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Margie Murphy, as well as his brothers-in-law, Harrison Norris and Carroll Tench.

In reflecting upon Wade's life, we are reminded of his strength, character, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. He will forever be remembered as an incredible individual who made a lasting impact on all who had the honor of crossing his path. May his soul find eternal peace and may his memory be a source of comfort for those who grieve his loss.
